About Me

Welcome to Free Range Human!  I’m Natalie, and I live in Oklahoma with my husband, John, and our two adorable fur-babies, Max and Gus. I’m 31 years old and passionate about backpacking, running, and just about all things fitness-related.  After many moons of reading blogs, I decided to start Free Range Human in 2012 to share my perspective and be a part of this wonderful community.

I’ve always been an active individual, but it wasn’t until my late twenties that I really found my true passion.  In the spring of 2010, I was introduced to the world of hiking and, specifically, backpacking, and my whole life changed.  Since then, our love of the outdoors has taken John and I on adventures to Montana, Arkansas, Utah, and all over the state of Colorado.  P.S.  You’ll discover my love for Colorado very quickly!

John and I plan just about every vacation around a backpacking adventure, and we have a long term goal of hiking the Continental Divide Trail that stretches from Mexico to Canada.

Recently, I’ve also discovered a love for running, and, to date, I’ve four half marathons and numerous 5Ks.  In 2015, my Dad and I are on a mission to complete 12 Races in 12 States in 12 Months.

Free Range Human is a place where I share my love for all of these things, and my hope is that this will be a place that I can inspire others to find their passions!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope see you around here regularly!

so glad I stumbled across this blog — I definitely need to learn from adventurous people :) Also, I live in the west and haven’t been to Leadville and have been wanting to go — your post totally put that back on my wish radar.

Yay Colorado! I live in Boulder and also love CrossFit, Running and Hiking!! It would be amazing to hike the continental divide! I was just talking about which backpacking trips I want to do this summer with my boyfriend! Good luck on your half!

Thanks for stopping by! I have a special place in my heart for my Colorado readers. Have you guys ever done any hiking in the Durango/Pagosa Springs area? There’s about a 60 mile lollipop trail in that area that we just love! In fact, we’re going to do it again this summer!

What do you think?
