Not Happy About These Friday Night Lights

Hello, Monday!  Did anyone else wake up this morning scratching their head wondering where the weekend went?  All of them go by too fast but this one definitely seemed like it was on overdrive!  We weren’t up to much around our house this weekend, but Friday night did provide for a little bit of entertainment.

Remember back during the Fourth of July when Max was going bananas over the fireworks?  He is not a fan of them at all, and we had a very stressful week trying to keep him calm.  Well, guess what?  Apparently the high school football team has decided to shoot off fireworks every time they score during the home games this season, and the football stadium is only a few blocks from our house.

Yeah, someone is really not happy about it.  And his mama isn’t too thrilled either!  Friday night was an experience as we tried to keep him calm through not one but TWO overtimes.  The poor little guy even threw up once because he was so upset!  I’m thinking we may have to find a reason to take him out of town on Friday nights for the next few months.

Saturday morning, it was all about Max again as he had an appointment with the groomer in Ft. Smith.  John stayed home to take care of some paper work so I had to amuse myself for a few hours.  I hit my favorite local outdoor shop to take advantage of the 75% off sale, and then decided I’d catch a movie.  I’m one of those people who actually really like going to the movies by myself on occasion.  Unfortunately there wasn’t much on so I settled for Grown-Ups 2.  Normally, I don’t care for Adam Sandler’s brand of humor, but I’d liked the first one so I thought I’d give it a shot.

I should’ve saved my money.  This was truly terrible.  It was very crude, and not at all funny.  About an hour into it, I got up to go the bathroom and decided there really wasn’t much of a reason to go back in.  I’d already wasted an hour of my life!

It turned out well, though, because about ten minutes later I got a call saying Max was ready so I picked him up and we headed home.  I spent the rest of the afternoon straightening up around the house and getting a workout in, and, once dinner rolled around, it was time for John famous chili!

We’d both been craving it, and Saturday was a perfect opportunity since John was going to be home all day to work his magic.  I told John the only thing that would’ve made it better is if it was about 35 degrees outside!

Sunday was one of those rare lazy days where we barely move off the couch and watch a lot of TV.  I read a good portion of my book, watched Now You See Me (really good!), and just enjoyed the down time.

I’m very thankful that we had a (mostly) relaxing weekend because the week ahead is looking very busy.  Sometimes a wonderful weekend is exactly what you need to be Marvelous in your Monday!  Have a great evening!

What did you guys do this weekend?  What’s the last movie you walked out of?

I’ve been thinking that chili is one of the ONLY good things about summer ending. Haha. I love summer. Kevin and I turned off Beginners (on dvd) this weekend. So boring. I’m really not a movie person. We go to the theater about once a year, usually with friends or family. There’s just never really anything I want to see.

Chili means fall has arrived! Anyway, I’ve never walked out of a movie, but my dad did once. While away on a work conference, he went to see “The Black Swan,” but he didn’t do his, er, let’s call it homework prior, so he was pretty shocked. He made it through 40 minutes or so before he called it a night.

Poor Max! Awww. That seems excessive for the school to set off fireworks every time they score! I actually like going to movies by myself too :) What has happened to Adam Sandler’s career lately? All of his recent movies are SO terrible. I don’t understand how they’re even greenlit by the studio!

What do you think?
