Good morning!  I’m sure you noticed I was absent yesterday (at least I hope you did!).  Well, I had a very good reason.  Look who showed up!

I got a call Sunday morning from my grandparents.  They were vacationing in Arkansas, and wanted to stop by the house for a night on their way back home.  Of course we were happy to have them!  We spent the evening visiting, and, obviously, we had to take them to the top of Cavanal. It case you haven’t figured it out yet, we do this to everyone who comes to visit!  Don’t worry-we let Nana and Papa go up in a car instead of hiking the whole thing!

Since I missed yesterday, I need to share a little bit of my weekend today.  We had a pretty relaxing one.  John and I decided to take in a movie Friday night.  I don’t know if I’ve ever shared this or not, but going to the movies is one of my favorite things.  Every time we go, I wish we did it more often.  Friday night’s feature was The Internship with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

It was so funny!  I don’t think I stopped laughing the whole time, and we’re not talking just a small chuckle.  We’re talking bust a gut, clutching John for support, fall in the floor laughing.  Seriously, if you need a little comedy in your life, go see this!

Saturday morning started off with a little bike ride.  We headed out for a few miles, and it felt really good to be back in the saddle.  I think I’m definitely going to insist we started devoting more of our weekends to cycling.  It’s just so fun!

The rest of Saturday was pretty laid back.  I did some things around the house while John did yard work.  Saturday night did end on an exciting note because this happened.

Two Christmases ago I got an ice cream maker, and it’s easily one of the best presents I’ve ever gotten.  I love making homemade ice cream, and I decided I needed to get my fix on Saturday.  I pulled a recipe from one of my cookbooks (fulfilling one of my June goals!), and made Buckeye Ice Cream.  It was pretty good, but John and I both agreed it was pretty rich.  I’m sure the whip cream and caramel sauce didn’t help matters!

Sunday evening we went over to my in-laws for some steaks on the grill.  After dinner, I convinced John to take me for a spin on the four-wheeler.

I spent most of the ride snapping pictures.  My in-laws live in one of the truly beautiful areas of Oklahoma.

The weather was perfect, and we were both wishing we could make it stay around a little longer.  Nobody around here is ready for 100 degree temperatures!

All in all, it’s been a lovely few days, and this week is only getting better.  I’m heading home on Thursday to spend some time with my family which always a good time.  I can’t wait!

What was great about your weekend?  What’s the weather like where you are?

Looks like a great weekend, Natalie! The Internship sounds too funny–and it’s on my list of must-see movies. :) Vince Vaughn is pretty good looking too. Just sayin’. 😉
