Tread Lightly!

Hello, friends!  First of all, I can’t go any further without expressing my heartfelt gratitude for all the love and support you’ve shown towards our very sad news.  Being a part of this community has blessed me in countless ways, and it’s never more evident than when tragedy strikes.  All of you are truly good friends, and I am so glad that I can count you as such.

So now we find ourselves in a brand new week, and I am determined that it is going to be so much better than the previous one.  After all, as Anne would say…

I just love all the life lessons we can learn from books!

In other news, there are only three more Mondays left until school is out!  This year has absolutely flown by.  Most school years do, but this one seems to have been on warp speed.  I’m attributing it to the fact that I am teaching a class this year which has kept me even busier than normal.  I’m defintely not complaining about the approaching summer break, however, because there are so many fun things to look forward to.  In just over a month, John and I will be back in Colorado to do some hiking and exploring, and then in July we’re headed to Colorado again for our ten day backpacking trip!  We talked with Mom and Joel about our trip quite a bit this weekend, and I getting more excited by the day.

Ok, let’s get to Friend Makin’ Monday, shall we?  Kenlee’s theme this week is In My Head which I can tell you can sometimes be a dangerous place.  Tread lightly, mmk?

In My Head

I like…cold weather!  I know I am very much in the majority, but I actually enjoy snow.  As I always say though, I get to feel this way as someone who lives in a place that only gets it once or twice a year!

I don’t like…Oklahoma summers.  110 degrees and 100% humidity?  Not my idea of a good time.

I love…to backpack.  It’s definitely my passion.

I dream of…living in Colorado. Someday!

I wonder…why my ancestors stopped in Oklahoma while moving west.  Seriously?  If they had only gone a bit further…..

I know…that this too shall pass.

I went…to Texas Roadhouse with John, Mom, and Joel Friday night.  We had to wait 45 minutes, and I could feel the hangry starting to come out!

I think…that I am ready to get my new shoes off.  Fancy shoes are nice, but give this girl her tennis shoes any day!

I plan…to go on a bike ride with the husband this weekend.  We have a race to start training for!

I regret…not taking the time to explore other degree options in college.

I drink…water and tea.  I’ve almost completely kicked the Diet Dr. Pepper habit!

I wish…that I could see my family everyday.  Spending a weekend at home makes me realize how much I miss them!

I am currently…….re-reading Anne of Green Gables for probably the fifteenth time.  I just love that book!

I am not…a social butterfly.  It’s actually really hard for me to make friends, but I think I might be getting better at it!

I need…to work on some curriculum for the Ap European History class if I’m going to try to teach it in the fall!

I hope…that 2013 is all up from here.

I want…to go eat at Pete’s.  John said something about it yesterday, and I’ve been craving it ever since.

I always…watch at least one Big Bang episode a day.  Love it!

I can…survive in the wilderness.  This upcoming trip will be my biggest test yet!

I cannot…run.  I’m good for a mile or two, but a long-distance runner I am not.

I will avoid…the number on the scale and look in the mirror instead.  News flash:  I don’t mind what I see there!

I will…take time to enjoy life this week.  I’ve had far too many reminders lately of just how precious it is!

Happy Monday!

What’s your favorite restaurant to eat at?  What book can you read several times and it never gets old?

Texas Roadhouse! I’ve been there once, but it was really nice: I went with my high school basketball co-captains and coach at the end of our season. The three of us had played together since bball day one (so third or fourth grade), and we had known our coach since eight grade. It was a memorable evening!

I share your same regret. I love my degree but would have def chosen a diff path if I had been more open. I can’t wait to hear all about your summer trip! Colorado is gorgeous and you will have a great time :)

Love these factoids, Natalie! I can’t wait to hear the recap of your backpacking adventure. Summer is just around the corner! I can reread Harry Potter again and again. I used to reread the entire series every time a new book came out, in anticipation. That means I’ve read the first one at least six or seven times :\ ahaha
