God Bless Bruno Mars

Happy Saturday!  We’re all enjoying a beautiful Saturday with wonderful temperatures.  The cold front FINALLY moved into our area, and, when John and I jumped in the car to make a grocery run this morning, the temperature was floating between 39 and 40 degrees which equals heaven to me.

I’m currently sporting my favorite winter headband and loving it.  I’m sure you guys have noticed I have a big thing for headbands.  Since I’m only capable of doing my hair two different ways (down or ponytail) headbands give me a little variety!

Thank you all so much for your support yesterday!  I definitely hesitated before I put my negative energy out there, but, just as expected, all of you were so awesome and encouraging.  I have to give you guys one more moment of honesty.  One of the reasons I was so down this week is because I was having some serious body image issues.  I’ve talked about my struggle with the scale before, and this week I definitely let it get the best of me.

Yesterday I talked about how reading inspirational quotes is a simple tool I use to pull myself out of a negative mood.  Well, I hit on another one a few days ago that is definitely something that makes me feel better when my negativity is about body image.  There are some great songs out there that are all about loving yourself and being happy “just the way you are”.  Let me just tell you-rocking out to these songs at top volume is enough to make your feelings do a complete 180!

As you guys know, Saturday is the day Chelsie has picked to honor and encourage self-esteem in all of us.  This week I wanted to share some of my favorite feel great songs with all of you.  If you feel like grabbing a hairbrush and rocking out in front of the mirror, there will be absolutely no judgement here :)

I hope these struck a chord with you!  Now it’s time for me to sign-off.  There’s a bowl of chili on the table and When Harry Met Sally waiting in the DVD player.  Have a great night!

What are some of your favorite “feel better” songs?  Anyone have any awesome headbands to recommend?

This is going to sound *so* cliche, but some of Taylor Swift’s upbeat songs can help me get out of a funk. Maybe “We Are Never Getting Back Together.” Oh, and “Call Me Maybe.” ;) Anything high energy like that.

Carrie!!! THOSE ARE TWO OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITES RIGHT NOW!!!! #noshame
Taylor = fabulous in every way possible ever
Carly Rae = puts a smile on my face EVERYTIME

Another one that I’m loving right now is OneRepublic’s “Feel Again” … not super fast, but pump it up and get ready to dance!! :)

So sorry to hear you had a bad week dealing with your scale struggles :( I can totally relate. When I first snapped to reality and realized I had a major problem with measuring/counting/obsessing over everything I ate, it took months for me to finally get things under control. But I did have one day last week where I “half” counted. Hadn’t done that in so long, I dunno what got into me! It’s really hard, just know that we’re all here to support you and going through similar struggles! Just keep moving forward :)

Thanks so much, Meghan! I’m having a much better week this week, and it’s largely due to the fact that I’ve stayed off the scales for a few days. It’s amazing what some perspective will do! You remember your own advice-we’re all here for you too if you need us! I know breaking out of the calorie counting is hard. I still haven’t done it completely.
