I have a song as my title for today’s post once again, but as soon as I discovered what I was going to blog about today, I started singing this one! But first things first. I have to tell you guys about the spectacularly wonderful thing that came in the mail last week.
Yep, my friends over at Chobani sent me a care package, and as someone who is well-known for her love of yogurt bowls, you better believe I was in heaven. They stocked me up, and I’ve already managed to take care of a good portion of this box
Now for a little sunshine to add to your Tuesday. As I perused my favorite blogs this morning, I got an unexpected and pleasant surprise.
I was nominated for a Sunshine Award! The lovely Laurie was kind enough to tag me with this award yesterday so you guys get treated to a few more facts about me! I know you’re excited
By the way, please pop over to Laurie’s blog and give her some love. She and her fiancee are celebrating four years together today!
Here are the rules: Give a shout out to the person who nominated you, answer the questions, and then nominate six fellow bloggers in return. You ready? Here goes!
1. Who is your favorite philosopher?
I took philosophy in college, and, though I think from time to time some philosophers really hit on something extraordinary, I mostly find the subject mind-numbing. However, for this purpose, I’m going to say John Muir. I know he’s not considered a philosopher, but this guy really understood the world in way I can relate to.
You knew I was going to hit you with another quote, didn’t you?
2. What is your favorite number?
Number 11. It was my softball number in high school, and my memories of playing are my fondest from school.
3. What is your favorite animal?
I love dogs, specifically these two.
As far as a non-pet type animal, I’ve really started to love bears. They’re beautiful animals, and, as a backpacker, you have to go into the wild with a respect for the creatures who’s home you’re invading.
4. Facebook and Twitter?
I have both, but I’m very new to Twitter. I’m really starting to develop an appreciation for it though especially in relation to connecting with other bloggers. I use Facebook frequently, but I’m starting to pull away from it. It seems that most people use it for their political rants (and I often don’t agree). Who needs any more stress in their lives?
5. What is your favorite time of day?
I have two! First, I love coming home to a quiet house right after work, fixing a yogurt bowl, and enjoying it while I scream at The View (yes, I know, very relaxing). I also love that time right after dinner when the sun is going down, and John and I are hanging out on the couch watching our favorite shows.
6. What is your favorite vacation?
My favorite type of vacation is either a hiking trip or a snow-skiing trip. I love being outdoors and active on vacation (it means you can eat more
) One of the best specific trips I’ve ever taken, however, was our honeymoon. We went to Washington D.C. and spent a week exploring the city. It was so much fun!
7. What is your favorite physical activity?
I love to hike and snow-ski. Hiking is definitely what I get to do most often!
8. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink?
Tea. I think I’ve waxed poetic about this before, but I seriously love it. I go through a pitcher a day.
9. What is your favorite flower?
Maybe a tulip? I’ve never been that into flowers. Honestly, the thought behind getting flowers is nice every once in awhile, but I really think they’re a waste of money!
10. What is your passion?
I’m sure you already know the answer. Hiking! Which is evident by the fact that I manage to work it into every conversation I have.
And now for the moment you’ve all be waiting for. My nominations for the Sunshine Award are:
1. Chelsie @ Balance Not Scale
2. Carrie @ Fitness & Frozen Grapes
5. Meghan @ After The Ivy League
6. Jorie @ The Midwest Maven (I know Laurie nominated you too, but I wanted to give some love!)
7. Alex @ Brain, Body, Because
Congratulations
I’m off to relax a little. I just spent the evening selling caramel apples at the school carnival. This girl needs some rest! See you tomorrow!

GIRL SO JEALOUS, that looks great! thanks for the nomination, so sweet of you!
You’re welcome!!
Tace goes way back with a dog named Daisy Sister Golden Hair.
So do I! That’s why I had to include her
I’m glad that I knew most of these things about you already!! <3
Definitely going to be putting this nomination to good use! Love you lovely lady!! xo
Love right back at you!
Thank you SO much, Natalie! This is so unbelievably sweet. I’m going to post on Friday about this, and I’ll be sure to link back to you as well.
Love the pic of your Aussie (as well as your other pooch!). And I couldn’t agree more about Washington D.C. My boyfriend and I started dating as interns there in college, and it was so much fun exploring the city together. I still romanticize the city so much in my head!
Oh, me too! It’s such a wonderful place, and we already have plans to go back for our ten.
Thanks for the nomination, Natalie! Dogs, specifically Zelda our greyhound, are my favorite animals, and even though I have Facebook and Twitter, I’m definitely Team Twitter.
I think I’m becoming Team Twitter. I haven’t figured out how to really get into quiet yet, but I’m definitely starting to see the benefits!
I love that you did the two animals, too
I want to get more into skiing and hiking, especially after reading your blog!
Laurie, that makes me so happy! One of the main reasons I started my blog was to make hiking more of a part of the healthy living scene!
I’ve never been snow skiing before! Is that the same thing as cross country skiing – sorta like hiking, but with big shoes in the snow?
Not exactly. I guess I should be more specific and say downhill skiing. My kind of skiing is where you ride the lift to the top of the mountain and the ski down really fast! It’s so fun! If you ever have the opportunity to try it, you definitely should!
Oh! I have never done that before. I’m really scared of going so fast!!
Oh, but, Alex, it’s so fun!!
I LOVE tea as well! In fact, when I filled out this survey I totally chose tea too
It really is so good! Lately, I’ve even developed a fondness for hot tea and can’t wait for it to get cold so I can enjoy it more!
You and I have the same thoughts on vacation – more active = more food!! =) Love snowboarding and scuba diving trips for that reason.
Exactly! The day I figured that out I was one happy girl!
My favorite type of vacations include being outdoors too
Gotta love nature -hiking, camping and snowboarding!
You’re so right! Just thinking about it makes me want to go somewhere!

Aw, thank you so much for the nomination!! I’m kind of sad I’m just getting around to reading it now (playing major catch up with my favorite blogs since I haven’t had time this week). I’ll make good use of this on Monday!
No worries! I’ve had one of those crazy weeks too!
