WIAW or My Ode to Whole Foods

I’m exhausted!  It’s been a whirlwind few days, and I’ve finally made it home from my travels.  I had a great time hanging out with my friends last night, but perhaps the best part about my trip was my stop at Whole Foods.  Yes, I am that person who would rather shop at a fun grocery store than a clothing shop :)

I’ll show you some of the great stuff I got at Whole Foods in just a minute because they definitely played a role in What I Ate Wednesday.  Yep, it’s that time of the week again!

Peas and Crayons

How cute is the logo this week?  Of course, it’s to celebrate a few different things that happen in October.  Spooky for Halloween and pink because it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  As always, thanks to lovely Jenn for hosting this fun blogger link-up!

This morning before I headed to the last day of meetings at my conference, I hit up the free breakfast at the hotel.  I woke up starving this morning, and I was actually looking forward to breakfast for one specific reason.  I travel a lot so I’ve noticed during my last several hotel stays, that my favorite chain has been offering hot oatmeal on their breakfast buffet.  You guys know how much I love oatmeal, and for some reason this stuff is particularly good!  Sadly, when I got down stairs, the oatmeal pot was empty.  I know-horrific tragedy.  I literally stood around for a few minutes looking helplessly at the pot as if I thought it would magically refill itself.  Unfortunately, it was a no go so this is what I ended up with.

A lovely little English muffin with peanut butter and jelly and a side of apple. It wasn’t awful, but definitely a let down from my oatmeal.

I was traveling for most of the afternoon, and, since I wasn’t really hungry when I left the city, I decided to take my chances on the road.  I never really saw anything appealing the whole way home so I snacked on some of this (quite a bit of this actually!)

This granola was new to me, and I cannot tell you how good it was.  I was expecting to pick up some of my beloved Love Grown granola, but there wasn’t any on the shelves so I went with some of this.  Great decision!  It really tastes like banana bread!

Of course I was really hungry by the time I got home, so I devoured my yogurt bowl.  Today’s bowl features a Chobani strawberry Greek yogurt, banana chips, Craisins, and some of my Love Grown (finally!).

And, finally, a dinner meal.  This is what I had Monday night when I arrived in the city.  I love Panda Express, and there’s not one anywhere near where I live so I eat it every chance I can.

This was mixed veggies and mushroom chicken with a side of spring rolls.  This was delicious!  Wish I could have it for dinner tonight :)

I’ll leave you with a few more of the great finds I got at Whole Foods.  I may or may not eat one of those Luna bars before dinner ;)

Those mangoes are huge!  I’m in heaven!

What are some of the great eats you’ve had today?

Be careful with the dark chocolate peanut butter–that stuff is addicting! I love granola so much, but I really can’t keep it around because I’ll polish off a bag in one sitting. Although I might bake some tonight … :)

I can’t wait to try that flavor! I think it might make an appearance in my oatmeal tomorrow morning :) I’m a little addicted to granola….I can’t describe how good this stuff is. It’s the best stuff I’ve tried in a long time!

I had some an awesome salad today with tuna, grapes, cucumbers and a lettuce mix. So jealous of your trip to Whole Foods. The closest one to me is an hours away so we rarely ever go!

That salad sounds good! That’s how I am with Whole Foods. There’s that one in Oklahoma City which is about three hours from me, and there’s one down around where my dad lives but that’s about three and a half hours away! Definitely a special occasion trip!

I am with you, 100% on loving the grocery store. I treasure my time at Trader Joe’s, and when I do go to Whole Foods, I’m like a kid at Disney World. I could spend hours there, just comparing ingredients and brands and shuffling down the aisle. My boyfriend never understands how I can spend so much on groceries but I love having a stocked house! ;)

Oh, I would love a Trader Joe’s! I’ve only ever been to one which was on a vacation to Oregon. I honestly don’t even know where the closest one is….no where near! It’s funny you should say that about your boyfriend. I talked to my mom once I got home this afternoon and told her about Whole Foods, and she couldn’t believe I was already home :)

For me, I was more a matter of what DIDN’T I eat — I was a hungry beast!! Oh, and I ended up having my candy corn and peanuts! :)
Your buys look fabulous though!! I’m SOSOSO jealous you have mango!! They’re nowhere to be found at my favourite produce store, and the ones at the big chain store are 3x what I normally spend on them — so not worth it (for sub-par tasteless GMO mangoes — no thanks). Sigh. I’ll have to make do with the natural dried mango … which I totally picked up when I got the corn&nuts! ;)

Yay! I’ve got to try that candy corn combo. These mangoes were definitely not cheap so I’m hoping they turn out pretty good. They’re huge! They aren’t totally ripe yet so I need to wait a day or two to cut into them. I feel your pain-these are probably the last I’ll have them this year.
P.S.-you may have to make room for John and I in Canada. He’s about ready to move :)

I love the cinnamon raisin! It’s currently in my pantry (as well as some maple-that one might be my favorite!) I tried the dark chocolate with my oatmeal this morning-oh my goodness! :)

That is absolutely the truth! I especially feel that way because the town I live in only has a Walmart so you can imagine how giddy I get when I can go to an actual grocery store!

We definitely don’t have Whole Foods, but I’m pretty sure I’d like shopping there better than clothing shopping, too….just look at that outdoor display!
I’ve bought that brand of granola before for my husband, as a couple of them are vegan. It’s tough to find granola without honey!

The outdoor display was beautiful! I found myself contemplating buying things I didn’t even need!

This is the first time I’ve tried that brand of granola, and I’m so glad I did. It was wonderful! I’ve been looking online to see about buying some more because no one around here sells it :(
