Happy October! Today officially begins my absolute favorite time of the year. This month I have backpacking to look forward to, our anniversary, and (hopefully!) much cooler weather. Then we head right into the holidays which anyone can tell you, I go a little nuts over!
I’m posting a little late today because I’ve been on the road to that undisclosed location I was talking about yesterday. Hello from Oklahoma City! Every year I go to a technology conference here for work, and it’s so nice to have the opportunity to learn what’s new in the world of education technology. The best part of this annual trip is hands down the opportunity I get to hang out with friends. Three of my best friends from high school live in the City now, and we only get to see each other a few times a year. This is the perfect opportunity to catch up, and we already have dinner plans for tomorrow night! I’m very excited
In other news, it’s Monday which means it’s time for Friend Makin’ Monday. This is week it’s all about what make’s you Uniquely You. Thanks to Kenlee for hosting this awesome blogger link-up.

1) Do you prefer to talk or text? I am all about texting. For some reason, I really dislike talking on the phone so texting is a great way to solve that problem!
2) How often do you make your bed? Everyday. Sometimes I let myself slide a little on the weekends, but usually that’s only if I know I’ll be washing the sheets that day. I’m a neat freak!
3) What sounds do you hear right now? The TV. Two Broke Girls is on. I’ve never watched it before, and, I gotta say, so far I’m not really a fan.
4) List three things that you always carry with you. Wallet, book, and emergency snack
5) What are your favorite TV shows? Oh wow…how long can this answer be. Ok, here goes….The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Mike & Molly, Castle, Hawaii Five-O, NCIS, The Middle, Grey’s Anatomy, Blue Bloods, Once Upon a Time, Revenge, and The Mentalist. And that doesn’t even count the summer shows I love. I told you I was addicted!
6) Is there a hobby that you’d like to devote more time to? If so, what is it? Oddly enough, I think I’d have to say reading. I love to read, but it seems like lately I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had time to sit down and zone out with a good book. Perhaps if I cut down on TV…….
7) What is your favorite drink? Tea, without a doubt. I drink at least a gallon a day!
8) Share a couple of cool facts about your family. My mom is the one who gave me my love of travel. She’s been to every state except three, I think. My dad runs marathons which dumbfounds me since I can’t even contemplate running a marathon.
9) List one thing that you will do for yourself today. Well, today is almost over so let tomorrow I will let myself enjoy a precious extra few minutes of sleep, and then do some yoga to get me ready for the day!
10) Share something that you’re thankful for today. Ok, if you can’t handle corny you can skip this question. Today (and everyday) I’m thankful for my husband. He really is my best friend. He’s my favorite person to hang out, and being married to him has completely disproven the “marriage takes work rule” for me.
Well, it’s getting pretty close to my bedtime so I’m going to curl up in my king-size hotel bed and pick up that book I never have time to read. Good night!
What are some things your looking forward to in October? Pick some of the above questions to answer. I’d love to know what makes you UNIQUE!

I love how we’re so similar in so many ways (reading included!! I SO wish I had more time to devote to it these days!) — however, I never make my bed. Like, ever. When my sheets are washed, I put the slip sheet over and basically toss the blankets into a pile. I hate having the end of the sheet tucked under the mattress (I need it curled under my feet), so actually making the bed seems redundant as I’ll pull them out regardless. (I do it in hotels too. haha)
Ps. You + your husband = too cute!!
Well, maybe it’s a habit you’ll develop…I didn’t start until I got married. I have no idea why! Every once in awhile it’s nice to not have to worry about it. In fact, I just told my dad earlier that I was so excited to stay in a hotel tonight because I wouldn’t have to worry about making my bed tomorrow
I wonder where you get your love/obsession with tv? I know a tace who used highlighters in different colors to indicate importance of tv events….partridge family vs brady bunch…mary tyler moore…carol burnett…bionic woman…all the way to yes of course Grey’s…
Apple….tree…tree…apple
I love pumpkin flavor…October is pretty much the only time I can get my pumpkin fix!
And I make my bed everyday. The whole house can be a disaster, but the bed will ALWAYS be made.
It does make it seem like you’re not letting the whole house get out of control, right? It brings a little order!
okay, i luv that last picture!! these are fun to read, i’m a little torn on the text thing. i think it’s AWESOME for being able to dodge people i’d really rather not talk to but on the other hand i talk a LOT and sometimes writing out epic text messages is a pain in the butt. so i guess i need to learn the art of brevity.
have a great night!
That’s a great point-I fall into that trap sometimes too!
I’m looking forward to Halloween, apple picking, cooler weather (hopefully) and getting the holiday season going! I wish I had the motivation to make my bed every morning kudos to you Natalie!
Well, I’m excited this morning because I don’t have to make my bed since I stayed in a hotel
I am *all* about texting–talking on the phone (to anyone other than my family) stresses me out! And first thing in the morning (no matter what), I make my bed; my not-so-secret type-A personality loves it. Also, my mom and I have this motto: “ABAB, or always bring a book.”
PS – Natalie, you need to check out Downton Abbey–you will love, love, love it!
You’re right-it’s so a Type A personality thing! I’ve been hearing about Downtown Abbey all over the blog world, and I think you’re right. I’m going to have to put the first season on the ‘ol Christmas wish list I think!
We are TV soulmates
I am addicted too and would love to have more time for reading, but I don’t want to stop watching TV either! Not a big fan of 2 Broke Girls. I watched it last year because it followed HIMYM and I was too lazy to change the channel, but I am not a fan!
It was all I could find when I got to the hotel last night, and I knew Mike & Molly was coming on after so I left it. Not good! I really like Partners this year though…it’s pretty funny!
Cute survey! I make my bed every single day too…usually as soon as I get out of it (literally) OCD much? haha glad to hear I’m not the only one!
Oh, it’s totally OCD for me too. I would make it up first thing only my husband sleeps later than I do so I have to wait until he gets up!
This was so fun to read and get to know you! We have many similar answers.. like, I drink about a gallon of decaf black coffee throughout the day, haa, just like you do with tea. and no doubt my boyfriend is what I am most thankful for everyday
HA and the 3 things you carry.. EMERGENCY SNACK all the way!! always… my snack bag doesn’t leave my side!
I’ve been in too many situations where I’ve gotten very hangry!! I keep an emergency snack with me as much for the people in my life as I do for myself
Yay for reading! Are you on GoodReads? It’s a wonderful site.
I hope your scale-less week is going wonderfully
So far, so good
I’m not on GoodReads, but I’ve heard so much about it. I think I need to check it out!
We’re so similar! I would love more time to read too….haven’t been doing enough of it this year and I miss it
I seem to always have something else that “has” to get done. I’m trying to do a better job of just being still, and enjoying leisure activities like reading!
