Ramblings on a Random Tuesday

I’ve been thinking all day about what I most want to share with you guys this evening.  Of course, I always want my posts to be fun, and sometimes I even shoot for informative or inspiring.  But today, guys, I’ve got to be honest-My brain has just been a jumbled mess of different things to say so I thought I’d treat you to a snapshot of what it’s like to live inside my brain :)  Please forgive me, and I promise to make it up to you!

1. You guys know I’m excited because we made it through the first episode of Castle last night and Beckett and Castle are still together.  I promise I will try to keep the  TV references to a minimum, but it is going to happen ;)

2.  I tried to give blood at the school’s blood drive today, but my iron was too low.  Why does this happen?  Any good suggestions on bumping up my iron?

3.  I cannot get enough of the Stephanie Plum novels.  They are so funny, and I cannot believe I am so late to the party.  How did I not know about these?!

4.  I’m a few days into my scale challenge, and it’s definitely been a challenge.  I can’t wait to share my thoughts with you all about it on Saturday.

5.  This recipe makes me happy, and I think my sister and I might have to give it a try this weekend.

6.  Confession:  I’m a little bit irritated that it’s almost October and it’s still 90 degrees :(

7.  In two and a half weeks, John and I will be back on the trail.  Can’t tell you how excited that makes me!

8.  I had this as a snack on my way to town this afternoon.  Love this flavor!  I only tried Luna bars for the first time this last summer and they are just like everything else that company makes-DELICIOUS!

9.  I had to eat my snack in the car this afternoon because I had a massage appointment after school.  It’s okay to be jealous.

10.  I plan on trying frozen grapes tonight for the very first time.  Thank you, Carrie, for the inspiration!

That’s it!  I think I’ve successfully purged my brain of at least a few things rattling around up there.  Hope you guys are having an excellent Tuesday!

What are some of your random musings today?

Keep strong!! You’re winning the war against your scale. They say the first three days of any addiction-kicking are the hardest. :)
It’s definitely not still warm here. You should come visit until it cools down where you are — then I’ll come visit when it gets too cold up here!
LOVE Stephanie Plum!! And that you want to make Butterbeer cupcakes! We’re soulmates. Really and truly!

How cool are Butterbeer cupcakes?!?! Ok, when I come visit to escape the weather we’ll make them! I love Canada! I’ve only been once (this last summer!), but it was so beautiful and I really can’t wait to go back.

I’m totally behind on Stephanie Plum. I just discovered them so I’m only on the 4th one, but she is so stinkin’ hilarious!

This was my first Macadamia Nut, and I loved it. I haven’t tried the Blueberry. There’s only a few places around here that sell them, and there aren’t a whole lot of flavors available. I have to stock up when make my REI trips!

That’s what everyone tells me! I eat a ton of spinach, but I’m definitely lacking in the red meat department. I MAY eat it once a week. Perhaps that is the culprit….

Thanks for the tag! Frozen grapes are *life-changing*! I had them for the first time while studying abroad in London, and I’ve been eating them ever since. :) PS – They’re also really, really good paired with dark chocolate. ;)

Two of my friends have tried to give blood before, and both had low iron content. I know one started taking an iron supplement–she got sick really easily and was always tired–which seemed to help. Glad to hear your scale challenge is going well. Today is my rest day, and I’m determined not to feel guilty!

The frozen grapes were really interesting! I liked them, but I need to try them again. Last night I was too focused on how strange the texture was! You study abroad in London?! I’m so jealous! I’m a total Anglophile, I’m obsessed with English royalty, and English history is my favorite :)

Oh gosh! How sad! I was definitely one of those people who was up at 4 to catch it :) I even made John promise that when their child gets married, we can go to London for the ceremony!

I’m so jealous! I think we’re suppose to get a bit of a break in the next few days, but that just means high 70s/low 80s. I know the weather will break soon, but it can’t happen fast enough for me!

During my period (sorry for TMI) I take iron supplements bc my levels drop. I dont eat a lot of red meat so I also load up on spinach too. I have been hearing all about these books and definitely have them on my ‘to read’ list!

No worries-now that I think about it, that actually may be my problem this week too!

The books are so good. I would definitely suggest reading them soon. I laugh out loud!

Those Butterbeer Cupcakes look amazing! And I have been looking for a great book to read-I’ve never heard of Stephanie Plum (so you aren’t the only one behind). Which novel would you recommend I start off with?

Stephanie Plum is actually the character in the series. They’re written by Janet Evanovich. I think the series is on number 18 now! Unfortunately, I’m way back on number 4. I believe the first one was called One for the Money. They even made a movie last year with Katherine Heigl that was based on these books -it was hilarious too! I highly recommend you check it out. Let me know what you think! :)

I have always had low iron even with eating lots of red meat and spinach. My Grandma told me to start cooking in a cast iron pan. I thought it was a bit silly but I tried it and the next time I went to give blood my iron was normal! That had never happened before! Now I always use a Cast Iron skillet. It may seem silly but ya gotta stick with whatever works! =)

I have actually heard that before! I had forgotten until you said, but I have heard people say it works. I even have a cast iron skillet. I usually don’t use it because it’s heavy and a pain to clean, but I may have to start doing it more often!
